In early summer of 2003 I was looking on the Internet for a place for my family to stay on the beach. I found a house in Fort Morgan owned by Steve Harris that I thought would be just right for us. We had never stayed in a house at the beach before, so we rented the little green cottage that is now called Splash. It was quaint and simple, with windows all across the front (which we kept open), and a nice-sized deck (where I spent most of my time). The wind and waves were tremendous that Labor Day weekend, and we had never stayed that close to the ocean before. We loved it! The next year or so, I was hoping to rent again from Mr. Harris, but could not find his houses listed as before, and when I called an old phone number I found, was told he had passed away. I thought that was the end of that. Another summer while staying on Dauphin Island, we thought the kids might enjoy taking the ferry over to Fort Morgan for fun. But also while there I specifically wanted to go by the little green beach house and found it was being managed by a local realty company. Recently I discovered that it, along with several other properties, are now being managed by the Harris family. Our grandson will start school in August and I wanted him to be able to enjoy a beach vacation with the freedom of staying in a house. In looking at what was available in our time frame, Wall Street was our choice. I am so glad, and I love the story behind it and Catalina. My family is so excited about our upcoming beach trip! There is no place in the world I would rather be than at the beach listening to the ocean waves, watching the beautiful sunrise and sunset, and walking barefoot in the sand!
